This scholarship program is specifically for indigenous students.

Course Overview

The course teaches you how to plan and organise projects, work safely and sustainably, and communicate effectively with co-workers.

You’ll also gain technical skills in carpentry and bricklaying. This course is perfect if you’re at the beginning of your construction career and want to explore your options.

The course is delivered at the following two facilities:

METRO:

Balga Senior High School – One Year Option

o 1 day per week – One year period

REGIONAL SOUTHWEST

Davenport (Bunbury) – One Year Option

o 1 day per week – One year period

Only for indigenous students.

Learner resources

All learning resources, materials and laptops required for training will be supplied by Skill Hire for use during the program.

All protective clothing will be supplied. This includes steel cap boots, shirt, pants and hat.

Course fees

Fully funded by the Construction Training Fund (CTF).

Study pathways

You can further your studies or start your pre-apprenticeship with 58293WA Certificate II in Building and Construction (Pathway – Trades).

You can also start your apprenticeship in CPC30220 Certificate III in Carpentry or CPC33020 Certificate III in Bricklaying and Blocklaying.

Recommended course structure

There are 10 units of competency – 5 core units and 5 elective units to be completed.

CPCCOM1015 Carry out measurements and calculations
CPCCWHS2001 Apply WHS requirements, policies and procedures in the construction industry

CPCCBL2001 Handle and prepare bricklaying and Blocklaying materials
CPCCBL2002 Use Bricklaying and Blocklaying tools and equipment
CPCCCA2002 Use carpentry tools and equipment
CPCCCA2011 Handle carpentry materials
