Every building needs good solid walls, and that’s where bricks and blocks come in! With the housing boom across Australia, qualified and experienced brick and blocklayers are in high demand.
This nationally recognised and accredited qualification will get you ready for a certified trade career as a bricklayer or blocklayer. You’ll learn about different types of bricks and blocks used in construction; how to lay bricks for domestic, commercial, and public buildings; how to construct arches, columns, feature walls, steps and stairs, curved walls and ornamental panels, and so much more.
You’ll also learn how to use tools and equipment, read and interpret construction plans and specifications, use measurements and calculations, work as part of a construction team, and work safely on a construction site. Occupational titles could include: Bricklayer, Blocklayer or Paver.
Completion of this course can provide credit towards a relevant higher level qualification, should you wish to pursue further study.
Course Overview
Master the trade of bricklaying and blocklaying. This apprenticeship reflects the trade qualified role of a bricklayer, blocklayer or paver who may have responsibility for undertaking heritage bricklaying, refractory bricklaying, bricklaying, blocklaying and paving work in residential, industrial and commercial contexts, in both existing and new constructions.
