With one in three homes in Western Australia containing asbestos, particularly those built before 1990, many young tradespeople are at a high risk of exposure, with the average age of occupational exposure being just 23. These concerning statistics underscore the critical need for immediate action, and Skill Hire, a prominent provider of training and apprenticeships, is rising to the challenge.
Skill Hire, a member of the IntoWork Group, is excited to announce its partnership with Reflections, an organisation dedicated to mitigating the impact of asbestos in the state. As one of the first 10 Industry Partners in Reflections’ initiative, Skill Hire is committed to increasing awareness and reducing exposure risks.
“Partnering with Reflections is more than just a collaboration; it’s a clear demonstration of Skill Hire’s unwavering commitment to workplace safety and the well-being of our community,” said Ben Dahlstrom, CEO of Skill Hire.
“By joining forces with Reflections, we are not only strengthening our Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy, but also setting a new standard for leadership in the building and construction industry.”
Skill Hire’s broad industry reach and dedication to training the next generation of skilled workers make this partnership both timely and significant. Through this alliance, Skill Hire aims to educate its workforce and the wider community, ensuring that best practices are adopted to protect everyone’s health and safety.
Managing Director of Reflections, Cate Harman, shared, “We are thrilled to have Skill Hire come on board as the first of our Industry Partners. We look forward to a long-standing partnership as we work together to create a safer work environment for all those in the construction industry.”
Reflections’ Industry Partner Program is inviting 20 companies in the building and construction sector to join its mission. Skill Hire is proud to be among the first to take this important step towards creating safer and healthier work environments in Western Australia.
