(Axcelerate Draft) Certificate II Building and Construction (Pathway – Trades)

Duration and commitment

The course is delivered in our customised Forrestfield training facility over 16 weeks, with participants required to attend training four days per week. Learning consists of 12 weeks hands on training provided onsite at our purpose-built training facility delivered by highly experienced and qualified trainers.

Participants will finish the program with a four-week work placement experience and are encouraged to get the most out of this experience as it can lead to an opportunity for employment. Participants will be required to follow site inductions as required by the host employer for their placement and will need to make their own way to and from their work placement.

Entry requirements

All potential participants are interviewed by Skill Hire prior to being accepted into the program. Set intake periods and maximum class numbers apply to this course. Age exemptions apply to this course. Students must be at least 15 years of age.

Students of school age will be required to obtain a Notice of Arrangement (NOA) or Exemption for permission to leave school and attend the program is required for certain birth dates. These are updated annually.

Learner resources

All learning resources, materials and laptops required for training will be supplied by Skill Hire for use during the program.

Participants will be required to wear their own steal toe capped boots and bring with them their lunch and a drink.

Hi visibility vests, safety glasses and hard hats will be provided by Skill Hire for the duration of training.

Participants may need to purchase Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for work placement as required by the employer.

Fees are subject to change. This course is part of the Lower fees, local skills initiative allowing eligible students to access discounted course fees.

Study pathways

Learners can go on to study CPC30220 Certificate III in Carpentry and Joinery or CPC33020 Certificate III in Bricklaying / Blocklaying, both offered by Skill Hire through an apprenticeship.
